Hello DimitryAnother update from dark Africa.Things are going well here in Kenya. That's an understatement.Up till now 275 different stations made it into the log. Many one-yagi station worked. We're wondering if there still is anyone left who hasn't worked us...Another highlight was working HB9Q, PI9CAM and DL9KR on 70 cm. Jan was loud in CW on our small antenna. Our 100W was enough to give Jan DXCC #103. We are happy that we could contribute to the score of this highly respected man. However our efforts on 70 cm are now over and out.The safari was just wonderful. We are deeply impressed by this overwhelming experience.Africa got into our blood for sure! What a nice continent, what nice people around! No doubt we will be back once. We're happy to stay in a rural area where white man are being stared at and considered to be an attraction. This all made us fresh again so we will be QRV this weekend starting our moonrise today at 18Z.Take your change and call us now you still can.YES YOU CAN !!!!!!!73 Team 5Z4EMEPlease send your QSL card with an self-addressed envelope and sufficient return postage ($, or IRC's) to
Hello DimitryToday it will be our last day on the moon.We will be QRV again after moonrise on 144.124 at 19Z. QRV on N0UK-logger.We got a visit from the Intelligence Agency. They were very interested, but we managed to distract their attention to guide them to our neighbour who's yelling in a mike the whole time.We understand that he is operating on HF.After an hour he disappeared, likely under the impression of the things that were shown to him.So, take your chance. We hope to be there, regarding the fact that our stomaches can cope with the heavy fishsoup (fishheads and heaven knows what more).Yes, life in the jungle is hard.Longing after a shower. We can find eachother easily by the tremendous smell. This morning Rene stumbled while he manually was turning the antenes and injured his leg a bit. We're now waiting for a witchdoctor (old woman) from the mountains to cure his leg. We hope she can find good herbs and pronounce the right spellings.73 Team 5Z4EME in KI79mowww.emelogger.com
Hello DimitryAnother experience from the Team in the jungle:As announced before Rene had a lot of pain in his foot that had been injured this morning by stumbling over the coaxial cable. He wasn't able to walk anymore...The old witchdoctor came by yesterday and with help of fresh chickenblood, secret smelly herbs and a kind of rough massage accompanied by loud screaming she managed that Rene now was able to walk a few steps. We hope she said the right spellings in order to get him cured. Today she will finish the job. We wonder what kind of rituals will follow...In the meantime our power (headfuse) went up into smoke after Eltje managed to overload the capacity of the 240V power. We're still wondering how he did it, its quite an achievement because not only we but the whole village in our neighbourhood had no power after the explosion. The fuses and the mainswitch were placed in a small box in our wall that had the name "Crabtree" on it.We already wondered what Gary Crabtree KB8RQ had to do with it, and we never will know because only some burnt parts could be discovered after we opened the smoky black box...However by shortcutting all fuses we now have power again. And that was important so we could be QRV with our moonrise again! And so we did. To make happy the last few who still needed us.Resume:282 contacts47 DXCC45 firsts on 144 MHz3 firsts on 432 MHzWe're looking back on a very successfull DXpedition. We had fun, our maids that were turning the aerials had even more fun and we're longing after a shower. The "Mzungu's" from The Netherlands are satisfied and already planning another travel.Where do we go next??73 Team 5Z4EMERonald PA3EWPEltje PA3CEERene PE1L
