50 /70MHz UA?
« : 22 Сентябрь 2008, 21:05:46 »
Hi,

is there any news that someday 50 MHz band will be legal again? Old timer hams have UA qsos over 10 years ago but like me newcomer in 50 MHz I still need prefix UA.

Abt 70 MHz, it is legal more and more European countrys. OH not yet, discuss goes with "FCC" and let's hope someday 4 meter band is also for ham use. Any idea abt 70 MHz in UA?

Hello, Janne

50/70MHz in UA still used for TV/FM boardcast radio.

In UR as I'm know new 50MHz licenses issue is stoped... Only QRV hams who get 50MHz permision few years ago and its still valid...

About call as i'm know for foreing hams possible to get Rx/OH5LID, where x - is number of area, for example, UA1 will be R1 etc. For Ukraine its UT/OH5LID.

Hi Janne,
As I know, you can get time limited permission for a callsign, like UA1/OH5LID and no more...

Regarding prefix UA on 50 MHz.. Good question! Me personally have several QSO/QSL from UA3, UA4, UA6 and
some of these contacts were even on years 2007-2008!  :). Really, I do not know, how legal was this operation,
but I never did a PR about these QSOs!
So, wait for Е-sporadic season on the next year and you could be lucky!

On 70 MHz I was very satisfied on this year.
Many MS QSOs, several Е-sporadic openings...
But, as Sergei answered you, and probably you know by yourself,
the 70 MHz band  in UA still using for broadcasting purposes.
I can hear practically every day some broadcasting  stations around 70 MHz
from S-Pb area on my modified FT-847 + 5 el, yagi. And these stations gives a lot of
troubles for HAMs on 4 meter band.

Hi Janne,

Unfortunately foreigners ham activity from Russia today is not provided by standard documents. Very regrettably, but we here in one company with the North Korea. It is not because of a policy of interdictions from the state. This is elementary sloppiness: the procedure has forgotten to specify in the law. Now Russian communications administration and Soyuz Radiolyubiteley Rossii (union of radioamateurs of Russia) are in an active work on joining to CEPT regarding documents T/R 61-01 and also T/R 61-02. As soon as procedure will be finished, Russia becomes a CEPT territory.

As for 50 and 70 MHz bands, those bands still will be very long inaccessible to the Russian hams…

Tks answers,

during last 10 years time to time somebody my UA friend from St Petersburg asked abt UA callsing possibility but always same answer - NO... Anyway it's been nice to operate under club call as second operator. Let's hope UA will be someday CEPT country, then it is everybody more easier when want operate abroad.

ABT 50/70MHz RRR  :( maybe someday TV will be without analogic singnal and more higher (OH side only digital TV been over 1 year, much less TVI problems.

Hi again,

seems this autumn we can have 70 MHz band in OH, if interest more info can find from

http://www.70MHz.org/

Just for interest, we have quite meny citys in OH7 & OH8 area where 70 MHz will be forbidden (KP42,KP52,KP43,KP53,KP44 & KP54 citys Lieksa, Ilomantsi, Joensuu, Kontiolahti, Polvijärvi, Juuka, Nurmes, Valtimo,Kuhmo, Hyrynsalmi, Suomussalmi, Ristijärvi och Sotkamo.)

Also other places under 50 km OH-UA border we will have power limit -6 db 25w and it is forbidden to beam 0-180

So just interesting, is still OIRT txing somewhere UA1N or UA1Z area, like 69.800 is some freq?

In UA on 70  MHz we have one way.
We can use wireless microphones on 66-73 MHz. Max power 10 mW.
Mode is not specified, so, i think, we can use SSB and CW and JT65 :-)
You have a real chance to get some QSO with stations in UA1

It is good idea watch propogation by the measure of BC & TV stations . Unfortunately we have high power TV transmitter on 50 MHz here ( KN88 ) . But even it can not prevent us work on 50 102 , 117, 125 ... when band is on . So , on same tower works 70 MHz BC tx . WFM , language - Russian or Ukrainian ( both very similar ) . Tower is in countryside and power more 1 KiloWatt , I think ... So , turn your yagi SOUTH !!! I have FT 847 and time to time monitoring Freq around 70 . Why not ?

Little list what is around band (hope soon we have it - need only date and signature...)

50 MHz gives big inband QRM from TV transmitters during ES, so interesting what will be in 70 MHz even ES dont go so high so often but hope more clever after next summer. Will test MS in 70 MHz hope soon  :P not yet because not legal yet...
